Innovate invited to assess student product presentations

Last week, Innovate Product Design was pleased to be invited to assess the product presentations of some of Bournemouth and Poole College’s Marketing Foundation Degree (FdA) students. This course is delivered by Bournemouth and Poole College and forms part of Bournemouth University’s Media School.

Grant funding for small enterprises

A new Technology Strategy Board scheme is offering funding to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to engage in R&D projects in the strategically important areas of science, engineering and technology, from which successful new products, processes and services could emerge.

Start Up Britain: Is help at hand for entrepreneurs in the UK?

This week saw the launch of the government’s “Start Up Britain” campaign. This initiative, designed to stimulate interest in British industry and promote entrepreneurship has been met with a mixed reception.  Touted by PM David Cameron as “helping Britain’s future entrepreneurial talent by providing links to the web’s best business resources”, the jury is still out on whether this campaign is a genuine attempt to help start up businesses, entrepreneurs and inventors in the UK, or a hastily put-together scheme formulated by PR people with an eye for a story. Congratulations to William Allingham, of Quadcrate, for being first of all shortlisted as one of the Shell LiveWIRE ‘Hot 40′ and now is through to the UK final of 8 businesses, being held at an awards ceremony in London on 13th October.

Allingham Quadcrates, an Innovate client,  has reached the final of the JFC Innovation Awards which was set up by John Francis Concannon with the help of the Farmers Journal, DARD, and Teagasc, for people who bring Ideas to reality.
